They have been incorporated in various international instruments, both universal and regional. The prohibition of the use of forced or compulsory labour in all its forms is considered now as a peremptory norm of modern international laws on human rights. These two fundamental ILO conventions are the most widely ratified of all the ILO instruments, and further ratifications are envisaged in the near future.
